The easy way is to download a wonderful template from http://blogger-templates.blogspot.com/. I also checked out the site called Blog Skins, but this site wasn't so good. The templates were a little overworked for my tastes. I don't think a lot of the blog skins on Blog Skins add much to usability of a blog site. In contrast the blogspot templates are very easy to read and laid out in a very uncluttered and easy to read fashion.
I read a fair bit about website usability earlier this year. Jakob Nielsen and Steve Krug are two good writers to check out in this area (Check out Nielsens bi-weekly column here Alertbox: Jakob Nielsen's Newsletter on Web Usability.
That is all.

Another place where you can find blogger templates is here:
http://www.geckoandfly.com/blogspot-templates/
Or you can customize one yourself using the Firdamatic:

The only problem with Firdamatic is it doesn't work unless you can figure out some way to get rid of the navigation bar at the top of the blog, and I don't know how to do that.
